Primark’s energy spend peaked in 2008. Subsequently, Primark decided to act by exploring saving opportunities across its estate. This included commissioning b:ssec for a trial project to assess the energy saving potential in a representative sample of existing stores.

Marston’s Inns and Taverns were in the fourth year of a challenging development programme with an energy and CO2 target emissions reduction of 15%. Marston’s were interested in becoming an environmental frontrunner within their sector and sought advice from b:ssec on how best to proceed with their environmental initiative.

Three main opportunities of wind power, biomass heating and energy from waste for renewable energy at Catterick Super Garrison were to be assessed to see how they could be employed to comply with Richmondshire planning requirements.

b:ssec has undertaken projects in the medical sector for the NHS and BUPA, as well as smaller care homes. We understand the care that has to be taken to ensure that our work does not impact on the operation of the service provided by these organisations.

b:ssec undertook a Carbon Trust supported Strategic Design Advice Project for HM Prison Service and the Ministry of Justice’s National Offender Management Service (NOMS) . The aim of the project was to develop a phased strategy for prison construction projects to reduce carbon emissions from prisons over the next ten years.

Although Westbury Dairies is one of the most energy efficient dairies in Europe, consuming 43.5% less than a typical dairy, they were not meeting their own internal targets.

An Opportunity Assessment (OA) was provided to Flagship Media where energy saving opportunities were proposed for consideration. As a result of the OA consultation Flagship Media decided to implement the proposal to remove electric heating and provide a VRF heat pump system. Flagship Media approached 2 local companies and obtained 2 proposals for the design, supply and installation of an office wide VRF system.

An initial opportunities assessment survey was carried out for Channel 5 Broadcasting. The agreed objectives of the assessment were to identify and prioritise up to 10 actions that could be taken up by the site to save energy, carbon and money. Channel 5 requested that the proposed actions included staff awareness issues and policy recommendations.
